The Char Lamp
This is a hand turned walnut lamp on a round plex, hand polished base. Once Skylar turns the base, he and I take it out back with all manner of lighter fluid and re-used kraft paper grocery bags and try to resist doing a "Piggy has the conch dance." We get the outside of the lamp sufficiently charred enough to give a wonderful jet color and luster and make sure there is enoughcrackling to provide a great alligator texture. The lamp is then meticulously glued and epoxied to ensure stability and sealed to quarantee that there is no campfire aroma. When we are confident that the southern gothic has sufficiently settled in, the lamp is fitted with a nickel-plated double socket cluster with an adjustable shade rest. The lamp is approximately 19.5” tall from table to top of cluster.
